Alert, BMKG Predicts Weather In 7 Regions In East Kalimantan To Experience Thunderstorms, BPBD Is On Standby
JAKARTA - The Balikpapan Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts seven regencies/cities in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Province to experience thunderstorms for two days, Monday and Tuesday, so all parties are asked to be vigilant.
"On Monday-Tuesday, March 14-15, from 10 regions in East Kalimantan, seven areas are predicted to experience thunderstorms," said Meteorological Station Class I forecaster Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Carolina Meylita in Balikpapan, Sunday, March 13th.
The impact of heavy rain accompanied by lightning can cause several things such as flooding, slippery roads, landslides, fallen trees, and others, so all parties are asked to be careful when traveling.
In addition, his party has conveyed an early warning to the weather forecast to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of each region, to minimize its impact on the community.
"Out of 10 regions in East Kalimantan, only three areas are predicted to have sunny and light rain, namely Bontang City, Balikpapan, and Penajam Paser Utara Regency. While seven other areas are experiencing thunderstorms," he said.

The seven areas include the City of Samarinda on Monday, at 23:00 central Indonesia time with the potential for thunderstorms to occur in six sub-districts, namely Sungai Pinang, Samarinda Ilir, Samarinda Kota, Samarinda Ulu, North Samarinda, and Sambutan.
Then in West Kutai Regency on Monday at 17.00, 20.00, and 23.00 central Indonesia time, heavy rain and thunderstorms have the potential to occur in almost all sub-districts, except Bongan District.
"On Tuesday, at 02.00 in the morning, thunderstorms are predicted to occur in the Districts of Damai, Bentian Besar, Melak, Muara Pahu, Barong Tongkok, Jempang, Muara Lawa, Nyuatan, Army School, and Siluq Ngurai," said Carolina.
Furthermore, in East Kutai Regency on Monday, at 17.00, thunderstorms occurred in Muara Wahau and Busang Districts, at 20.00 in Muara Ancalong, Muara Wahau, and Busang, at 23.00 in Kongbeng District.
For Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Monday at 20.00 thunderstorms have the potential to occur in Tabang, Kembang Janggut, and Kenohan Districts, at 23.00 in Muara Muntai, Kenohan, and Muara Wis.
"In the early hours of Tuesday morning or around 2:00 central Indonesia time, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in Tabang and Kenohan sub-districts," said Carolina.
