JAKARTA - The government targets the repair of the Trans Sumatra toll road section of the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayuagung, to be completed before Idul Fitri 2022. The repair of the toll road is intended so that people can go home comfortably.
Deputy II Chief of Presidential Staff of the Republic of Indonesia Febry Calvin Tetelepta explained that based on the information from the PUPR Ministry, the completion of all improvements to the Trans Sumatra Toll Road could be completed in April 2022.
"This includes traffic signs, markings, and rest areas. So later, people can go home for Eid in comfort," said Febry, in an official statement, quoted on Sunday, March 13.
"It can be estimated that the Lebaran homecoming in 2022 will be booming, and this toll road will definitely be the prima donna," he continued.
Febry revealed, to speed up the completion of the repair of the Trans Sumatra toll road, the PUPR Ministry has added additional equipment and workers, with the target that by mid-April there will be no more damage to toll roads and non-toll roads.
"The initial plan for repairs is targeted for completion in June. Because it is accelerated to April, there must be additional tools and people," he said.
In the coordination meeting to evaluate the improvement of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, Febry also emphasized two things related to the completion of toll road repairs, namely the administration of providing technical documents and the progress of road repair activities.
"Successful construction must be balanced with administrative and legal matters. Everything must be ensured to run well," he said.
