AirAsia Food Officially Enters Indonesia, Orders Can Be Delivered Using Drones
JAKARTA – Not wanting to be left behind in the food delivery service business, AirAsia Group has finally officially launched AirAsia Food in Indonesia. The service has started operating since Tuesday, March 8th. However, for the time being, this service has only reached Tangerang and surrounding areas.
The emergence of AirAsia Food in Indonesia can be seen through posting to the Instagram account @airasiasuperapp.id.
"Yess! AirAsia food is now officially present in Indonesia. Starting from the Greater Tangerang area, you can order food that makes #SuperisinglyPuas," wrote the account @airasiasuperapp.id.
In a promo video on Instagram, this AirAsia Foodservice does not only use drivers and motorbikes. But also using drones which means delivery via air. This is certainly something new compared to other delivery services in Indonesia.
Now the Food menu has also appeared in the AirAsia application, although it is still in beta mode. The AirAsia application itself can be downloaded via the Google Play Store and App Store. However, if the user is outside Tangerang and accesses AirAsia Food, the user will see a notification stating that the service is not yet available for locations outside Tangerang.
"Looks like we don't have your area covered yet."
A notification will appear because the application requires the user to turn on location access in order to be tracked by the application. If you are in an area that is not covered by AirAsia Food services, you cannot use it for the time being.
AirAsia Food itself has not given certainty when they will start operating in other cities in Indonesia.
Although relatively new in the delivery service business, AirAsia Food is predicted to be able to compete with similar services that already exist, such as Gojek through Go Food, or Grab through Grab Food, and even Shopee Food.
