Ubisoft Follows French Government Directives, Stops Sales And Services In Russia

JAKARTA – French game maker Ubisoft, which has been the owner of the blockbuster "Assassin's Creed" franchise, has suspended sales of its products in Russia. They announced this decision on Monday, March 7.

"Digital and physical sales are temporarily suspended in Russia," a company spokesman told Reuters. However, Ubisoft did not provide any financial details as a result of the cessation of sales of their products in the country.

Ubisoft itself has a representative office in Moscow and employees in several cities of Ukraine, Kyiv, and Odessa.

The move was taken in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and as part of the economic sanctions imposed by the French government on Russia.

Ubisoft is now also joined by many Western technology companies who choose to follow their government's sanctions directives. Apart from Ubisoft, Microsoft, Apple, and many other technology companies have stopped their services and sales in Russia.
