It's Not A Loss, Economic Side If The Election Continues To Be Held In 2024 Will Get Benefit
PURWOKERTO - A number of parties are known to have floated the discourse of delaying the implementation of the General Election (Pemilu) which is planned to be held in 2024. For the proponents of the idea, the postponement needs to be done because the government is still focused on overcoming the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has not yet been completed.
Not only that but the delay is also considered necessary so as not to disrupt the economic recovery process which has also been promoted by the government in recent times. However, a Political Observer from Jenderal Sudirman University (Unsoed), Purwokerto, Ahmad Sabiq, actually stated that he did not agree with this mindset.
"In my opinion, the election in 2024 can actually move the economy, not only at the central level, but also in the regions," said Ahmad, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 6.

According to the lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Unsoed, the experience so far has proven that the moment of holding the election has proven to be able to encourage various economic sectors to develop and stretch more optimally.
"Yes, for example, spending on political parties for billboards, campaign attributes and advertising in the mass media, does it increase significantly when there is an election. Not to mention the costs of organizers, witnesses and the success team, whose funds are revolving to the lowest level. Then also various economic activities others," said Ahmad.
With these considerations, instead of contradicting them, Ahmad is actually optimistic that the implementation of the General Election in 2024 will be in line with and even more successful in the national economic recovery program that is being intensively carried out by the government.
On the other hand, if the general election is forced to be postponed, Ahmad believes that there will be a loss of the moment for a major national event that should encourage the national economy to spin even faster.
"The election is actually important (held as planned) so that the potential for economic freeze does not occur. Instead, it is necessary to make further studies and special schemes so that the economic impetus from the implementation of this election can be maximized again," said Ahmad.
