Cagliari Vs Lazio 3-0, Mazzari: We Were Punished For Being Arrogant
JAKARTA - Walter Mazzarri says Cagliari has been punished by Lazio for being 'a little arrogant' after his team's recent good results. He wants his children to be humble again.
Sardinian side Cagliari are unbeaten in five games, including wins away to Atalanta and Torino, having stopped the likes of Napoli as well as Fiorentina.
However, they were hit three goals unanswered by Lazio at home last night.
The score was opened by a Ciro Immobile penalty, although Giorgio Altare thought he was trying to get his hands off Luis Alberto's shot.
Luis Alberto then completed a classic counter-attack from a Cagliari corner, then Felipe Anderson slalomed through the Sardinian defender to make it 3-0.
"We were a little arrogant tonight and let a solid Lazio punish us for that," Mazzarri told DAZN quoted by Football Italia.
"They quickly got the game on the path they wanted, so I put the third striker off the bench, but it was all over after the third goal.
"We weren't very sharp on the ball, maybe there was some arrogance and recent results have made us a little complacent. It's good to be positive against any opponent but you also need balance and goals basically all of us lost the ball when we played from behind.
“Maybe we started to lie to ourselves. We must quickly restore that humility and prepare to face Spezia.”
