Cak Imin Is Optimistic To Run For The 2024 Presidential Election After The Proposed Postponement Of The Election, What Does He Want?

JAKARTA - PKB Chairperson Muhaimin Iskandar said he was optimistic that he would be able to participate in the 2024 presidential election contestation. Cak Imin was sure that with PKB's voting capital during the 2019 Legislative Election, he could invite a coalition of other parties. In the 2019 Legislative Election, PKB received 9.69 percent of the votes.

This was revealed by Cak Imin when he led the Persada Nusantara Ceremony in preparation for the 2024 presidential election which was held by the Surabaya City PKB DPC.

"We have capital (almost) 10 percent of the PKB from the 2019 Legislative Election. This 10 percent capital is added if the PAC, Rating, DPC, DPW work for these 2 years, we believe we have high electoral and will have high capital," said Cak Imin. after inaugurating the Joint Forward Office (Headquarters of the People) Gus Muhaimin President 2024, Thursday, March 3.

With the hard work of cadres, Cak Imin hopes that PKB's votes can continue to increase and can form a coalition with other parties to support him.

"And later we can invite parties into a coalition," he continued.

The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives stated that in early 2023 PKB will draw conclusions regarding which coalition and political party to advance in the 2024 presidential election.

Meanwhile, he said, PKB will coordinate as an initial stage. "Meanwhile, we are coordinating with the DPR parties, and our coordination is still in the early stages. If we can draw conclusions, it will only be early 2023. Regarding the criteria for my Vice-President Candidate, it also depends on the supporting party. Because we have to be a coalition in order to have 20 percent of the requirements to carry a presidential candidate," he said.

Cak Imin's belief in running for the 2024 presidential election is certainly confusing. Previously, the man who was later called Gus Muhaimin suggested that the 2024 election be postponed by one to two years for reasons of economic improvement.

Cak Imin then became a byword in the public sphere. From his proposal, two political parties agreed with him, namely PAN and Golkar. Meanwhile, six other political parties refused, including PDIP, NasDem, PPP, PKS, Democrat, and Gerindra.

Now, Cak Imin actually claims that the postponement of the election is only a suggestion. He also threw the hot ball at President Joko Widodo and the political party presidents.

Cak Imin emphasized that the postponement of the once-every five-year democratic party in Indonesia was only a proposal. Meanwhile, the decision-maker regarding the proposal rests with President Joko Widodo.

"Of course, I can only propose and it will be determined and discussed by the general chairman. Of course, the decision will be made by the President (Joko Widodo)," he explained after the declaration of support as a presidential candidate in Makassar, Tuesday, March 1.

If there is no response from the Presidential Palace regarding the proposed postponement During the 2024 Simultaneous Election, Cak Imin again said that all decisions were returned to the government and the leadership of political parties.

"Well, whatever, it's just a suggestion," he said.
