Indonesia Supports UN Resolution Demanding Russia Stop Invasion Of Ukraine
JAKARTA - Indonesia is included in the 141 member countries that support the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) demanding Russia stop the invasion of Ukraine. This step by the Indonesian government received appreciation from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States (US), Wendy R. Sherman.
Sherman thanked Indonesia for supporting the immediate end of the Russian invasion. The US Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed her gratitude to the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, by telephone, Wednesday, March 2.
In a statement from the US Embassy as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 3, Sherman condemned the Russian attack while talking to Retno. She called Russia's attack on Ukraine premeditated, unwarranted, and unjustified against Ukraine.
As previously reported, as many as 141 UN member states have supported the resolution demanding Russia end its attacks on Ukraine. Reporting from the NBC News Twitter account, five-member states rejected the resolution. While 35 countries voted to abstain.

"Today's UN General Assembly resolution reflects the real truth", UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said on his official Twitter account on Wednesday.
"The world community wants the suffering suffered by the victims of the attacks in Ukraine to end", Guterres said.
Meanwhile, UN General Assembly President, Abdulla Shahid, stressed that the resolution demands that Russia immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw all military forces from Ukrainian territory within internationally recognized borders.
"I along with member states (UN) would like to voice our concerns about 'reports of attacks on civilian facilities such as settlements, schools, and hospitals, as well as attacks on civilians, including women, the elderly, and people with disabilities and children", he said, citing a text he read Wednesday, based on a report on the UN's official website.
