Joint SAR Team Rescues Climbers Of Mount Dukono, North Halmahera

TERNATE - The Joint SAR Team managed to rescue a climber on Mount Dukono, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku named Edi Morfindolu who was reported missing at the top of the mountain, in a weak condition.

Head of the Ternate Basarnas Muhamad Arafah in Ternate, Wednesday, March 2, said the Joint SAR Team arrived at the entrance to the Mount Dukono climb and carried out a search. After several hours of searching, on Tuesday, March 1 at around 18:45 WIT, the victim was found by the joint SAR team at the coordinates position of about 5.41 KM to the north of the incident location (LKP) in a weak and dehydrated state.

The joint SAR team then assisted the victim, then the victim was evacuated to his residence in Pitu Village, Tobelo District, North Halmahera, and at 19.25 WIT, the joint SAR team arrived at the victim's residence and handed over the victim to the family in a safe condition.

Mount Dukono in North Halmahera Regency is a volcano with a height of 1,335 meters and one of the mountains that are often used as a climbing location for visitors and students while on Halmahera Island.

On Tuesday, March 1st, the joint SAR team searched for a young man aged (19) who was declared missing and lost at the top of Mount Dukono.

Search for victims based on community reports. The victim and four of his friends climbed Mount Dukono and reached the summit at night. On March 1, 2022, at 04.00 WIT, when the victim and his four friends returned from the crater to the place where the bivouac was known, the victim was no longer with his partner.
