Hundreds Of Mamuju Residents Crowd To Buy 5 Liters Of Cooking Oil For IDR 70,000
JAKARTA - Hundreds of residents in Mamuju Regency are jostling to be able to buy cheap cooking oil provided by the West Sulawesi Provincial Government.
Reporting from Antara, Mamuju residents were seen jostling to buy cooking oil prepared by the government through market operations at two points in Mamuju City, Friday, February 25.
The crowded queues of residents appeared to have occurred at the West Sulawesi Governor's office complex in Tangas Village, Mamuju City, and at the Manakarra beach platform, Mamuju City.
Residents who were crammed in line to buy the cooking oil, in a container truck prepared by the government to carry 1000 packages of five liters of cooking oil.
Neni, one of the residents, said that the cheap cooking oil containing five liters was sold by the government at a price of IDR 70,000, so residents were willing to jostle to get it.
"The price of cooking oil in the market reaches IDR 23,000 per liter, so people are willing to jostle and queue to buy this cheaper government cooking oil," she said.

He said the government in West Sulawesi was asked to overcome the spike and scarcity of cooking oil prices so that people would no longer have trouble getting cooking oil, especially before the holy month of Ramadan.
Deputy Governor of West Sulawesi, Enny Angraeni Anwar, said that the government in West Sulawesi continues to try to control price inflation in the market, including the price of cooking oil.
She said the market operation with the cheap cooking oil program was carried out by the government so that cooking oil prices returned to normal and there was no hoarding.
