East Java BKSD Arrests Seller Of 6 Protected Animals
JAKARTA - The East Java Center for Natural Resources Conservation (BKSDA) conducted a hand-catching operation (OTT) against an animal seller. From that arrest, six protected animals were rescued.
Head of the Regional Conservation Section VI Probolinggo BBKSDA East Java, Mamat Ruhimat said that the protected animal seller with the initials MA was arrested at Griyasanta Housing, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Malang City.
"(Rescued animals) One large binturong, two yellow birds of paradise, two yellow crested cockatoos, one young cassowary," said Mamat in his statement, Saturday, September 12.
The arrest of the protected wildlife seller began when this information was provided. Then the information was traced until finally it was followed up by cooperating with the Police from the Malang City Lowokwaru Police and the Jabalnusra and Profauna Indonesia Gakum Balai.
"The perpetrator and the evidence were immediately brought to the Malang City Lowokwaru Police Office for the investigation process," said Mamat.
Meanwhile, the six animals found will be brought to Sidoarjo. The conditions of the animals will be checked to ensure that they can not be released again.
"Tonight we plan to evacuate animal evidence to the East Java KSDA Transit enclosure in Sidoarjo," he said.
On this occasion, he said, the perpetrators had now been secured at the Lowokwaru Police, Malang City. "We submit the investigation to the Malang City Police Lowokwaru," he said.
