JHT Can Only Be Disbursed When Participants Are 56 Years Old, Ministry Of Manpower: So That In Old Age They Will Have Funds For Living Necessities
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower emphasizes that the old-age insurance program (JHT) is a long-term social protection program for workers.
"This scheme is to protect so that when they grow old, workers still have funds to meet their daily needs. So if all of them are taken within a certain time, then the purpose of the protection will not be achieved", said Head of Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Manpower, Chairul Fadhly Harahap, in a press release quoted Antara, Sunday, February 13th.
Chairul stated that the funds from the accumulated mandatory contributions of JHT program participants and the results of its development are prepared for the protection of workers in old age and according to the provisions of the JHT funds are given to workers when they reach retirement age or experience total disability or death.
According to government regulations, workers enter retirement age at the age of 56.
Although it is intended for protection in old age, after the worker enters retirement, or dies, or experiences permanent total disability, according to Law Number 40 of 2004 concerning the National Social Security System (SJSN), participants who need it can claim part of the JHT benefits. at a certain time.
According to Government Regulation Number 46 of 2015 concerning the Implementation of the Old Age Security (JHT) Program, a claim for part of the JHT benefits can be made if the participant has attended the JHT program for at least 10 years.

In this case, according to the provisions of the guarantee program participants can take 30 percent of the JHT benefits for homeownership or 10 percent of the JHT benefits for other purposes in preparation for retirement.
The Ministry of Manpower has issued Regulation of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits.
The issuance of the regulation raises pros and cons, therefore the ministry plans to hold a dialogue and socialize the regulation to trade unions and related stakeholders.
In addition to the old-age insurance program, the government has implemented social security programs such as work accident insurance, death insurance, pension insurance, health insurance, and job loss insurance to protect workers.
