The Number Of Used ICU COVID-19 Beds Has More Than 80 Percent

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has stated that the occupancy rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds at 67 referral hospitals in Jakarta for handling Corona Virus Desease 2019 (COVID-19) is above 80 percent.

Reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 9, data as of September 6 uploaded on the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's Twitter social media account, on Tuesday, August 8, the occupancy of ICU beds reached 83 percent of its capacity of 483 units. This means that around 83 ICU beds for COVID-19 are available in 67 Referral Hospitals for handling exposure to this new type of Novel Corona Virus.

Meanwhile, the occupancy rate or use of daily isolation beds for COVID-19 at 67 referral hospitals is around 77 percent of the current capacity of 4,456 beds.

Thus, the daily isolation beds for COVID-19 in 67 referral hospitals left around 1,024 for handling exposure to this new type of Novel Corona Virus.

The number of beds alone does not include the beds of 13 Regional General Hospitals (RSUD) which on September 4, 2020 were designated specifically to serve COVID-19 patients, through the Decree of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office Number 399 of 2020 concerning the Determination of Fully Organized Hospital COVID-19 Countermeasures Services.

This special hospital for COVID-19 is required to transfer inpatient and outpatient services for non-COVID-19 to another hospital that serves non-COVID-19 patients according to applicable regulations.

Then, the COVID-19 Hospital is required to implement COVID-19 service standards and use the entire hospital area for this, thereby increasing the capacity of the necessary resources such as facilities and infrastructure, availability of medicines, medical devices, personal protective equipment, consumable medical materials and other health resources.
