Slipped On A Slippery Road, An 8x57 Caliber Rifle Belonging To A Wild Boar Hunter From Bogor Shoots His Own Partner
BOGOR - A hunter from Bogor City, West Java (West Java) was shot and killed by a fellow hunter while hunting wild boars in Cisarakan Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The victim is BA, a resident of Jalan Kalasan, Kedungbadak Village.
"The victim was shot in the right hip by a colleague's rifle with the initials YA (59) a resident of Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi Regency," said Sukabumi Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Rizka Fadhila in Sukabumi quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 10.
According to information gathered from the police, the incident began when the victim and his partner last Saturday at around 21.00 WIB held a wild boar hunting event in Loji Village, Simpenan District.
After arriving at the location, BA and YA went through the forest to look for the presence of wild boars. The condition of the road which is still made of dirt and has just been rained makes the road slippery.
It is suspected that YA, who was behind the victim, slipped and fell and was accidentally pulled by the trigger of a Mauser 8x57 mm caliber rifle with firearm number 11845. So the bullet immediately lodged in the right hip of the victim who was in front of him.
Seeing his colleague lying down, YA panicked and immediately asked for help from the surrounding community.
Not long after, residents came to the location and helped evacuate the victim to be taken to the Palabuhanratu Hospital. However, BA breathed his last before reaching the hospital.
The results of the investigation, the police found a wound on the victim's hip with a diameter of 1 cm and inside the wound there were fragments of a bullet projectile. Then from the results of the investigation of the crime scene, the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim personnel also found a bullet casing that had been fired.
Furthermore, the police confiscated three bullet projectiles that were still intact and Ya's Perbakin Police non-organic weapon as well as a permit number to use firearms in the context of hunting numbered SI65IIYan.2.7.2022 dated 04 February 2022.
"We are still developing this case, but from the results of the investigation, the shooting of the victim by his colleague was not intentional, but rather due to negligence," said Rizka.
