Jakarta Hasn't Used Pfizer Vaccine For Booster, Health Office Asks Citizens Not To Be Picky
JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Widyastuti, said that currently, the DKI Provincial Government is still using the AstraZeneca type of COVID-19 vaccine for a booster or third dose of vaccination.
Therefore at this time, the Pfizer vaccine has not been used as a booster. Widyastuti also asked Jakarta residents not to wait and choose the type of booster vaccine to be received.
"Currently, Jakarta is massively using AstraZeneca vaccine for the third dose or booster because that is the type that is currently available. We invite the whole community not to be picky about the type or brand of booster vaccine," said Widyastuti in a statement, Thursday, February 10.
Widyastuti explained, any type of vaccine has been clinically tested and is beneficial for the immune system. Based on research by experts, the AstraZeneca vaccine as a booster is effective in preventing symptoms when exposed to COVID-19 as much as 93 percent, while the Pfizer vaccine is 90 percent.
In addition, boosters using the AstraZeneca vaccine are also effective in preventing hospitalization if exposed to COVID-19 by 96 percent, while the Pfizer vaccine is 87 percent.
Most people who have received tickets for the third dose of vaccine are those who use Sinovac or AstraZeneca at dose 1 and dose 2.
"Therefore, for all the people of Jakarta, let's take advantage of the opportunity and the current availability of vaccines in health facilities and vaccination centers spread across various regions. Come on, vaccinate, protect yourself and those around you," said Widyastuti.
