Pelita Air Wants To Join InJourney SOE Holding, Observer: That's Good News

JAKARTA - Aviation observer Arista Atmadjati welcomes Pelita Air's plan to join the holding of the state-owned aviation and tourism sector, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia or InJourney (Persero).

"This news is also good," said Arista, quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 10.

Arista said Pelita Air is expected to be able to fill the pioneer aviation market segment to improve air connectivity in the country. In addition to filling the pioneer flight slots, Pelita Air is also advised to open goods or cargo transportation services.

According to him, Indonesia as an archipelagic country needs many airlines to drive the logistics sector.

He also conveyed that Pelita Air should be present as a passenger airline and logistics transportation at a price that can be reached by the public.

However, the observer from the Arista Indonesia Aviation Center (AIAC) institution requested that Pelita Air fulfill the provisions of the Air Operator Certificate.

"The first step is that Pelita Air must get the AOC of the scheduled airline first because at this time they are only holding charters," he said.

As is known, InJourney's President Director Dony Oskaria said Pelita Air will be launched in 2022 under the category of medium standard flight services.

"We hope that this will fill the void in the number of airlines or the number of aircraft that will connect (build connectivity) to Indonesia after the COVID-19 pandemic (which has caused many airlines) to experience turbulence," Dony said at the II National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in Padang, West Sumatra, Wednesday.

With the presence of Pelita Air, it is also hoped that it will not interfere with the amount of flight traffic, connectivity, and the world of Indonesian tourism.
