No Longer Mendompleng His Father Financially, Prince Harry Returns The People's Money
JAKARTA - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially financially independent. They returned the British citizens' tax money that was used to finance the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, where they lived while in England.
"The Duke of Sussex has already paid a certain amount of money for the Sovereign Grant. The money originally offered by Prince Harry has fully paid for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, the property of Her Majesty the Queen, and will remain the residence of the Duke and his family," said a representative of the Prince Harry and Meghan couple. Markle told ABC News as reported by Antara, Tuesday, September 8.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved into the house on Windsor Castle grounds in 2019 ahead of the birth of their first son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Frogmore Cottage is a house built since the 18th century, a gift from Prince Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to both partners.
Initially it consisted of five separate houses that were occupied by royal staff but then fell out of place for several years.
The renovation costs for Frogmore Cottage were about 2.4 million pounds, or about 3 million US dollars, funded by British tax money, according to Royal Household.
Last July, Harry and Meghan with Archie finally moved to a new home in Santa Barbara, California, USA.
Recently, the two signed a deal with Netflix to work on documentaries, feature films, television shows and children's series.
They no longer complemented their father's money, Prince Charles, financially.
