Para-Chess Athletes Start Focusing On Training For The ASEAN Para Games And Asian Para Games

JAKARTA – The para-chess team began to make preparations to welcome this year's ASEAN Para Games and Asian Para Games. A series of exercises to face the two big events has also been held.

However, the preparation is still limited to practice matches between athletes and against coaches. Meanwhile, the deepening of game theory will be given by the coach before the grand event is held.

"Haven't studied game theory yet. In the future, approaching major events, the coach will provide training for the opening and middle games for athletes", wrote the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) in the @npcindonesia Instagram account.

The ASEAN Para Games is scheduled to take place in Solo on July 20-31. Solo is set to host the 11th ASEAN Para Games to replace Vietnam, which withdrew.

Meanwhile, the Asian Para Games are scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China on October 9-15, 2022. More than 3,800 athletes with disabilities in Asia will compete.

Chess is one of the sports that are competed in the two major sporting events.

Indonesia has a row of athletes with disabilities who are engaged in para-chess. This can be seen in the XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua last year.

In the event, no less than 131 athletes from 23 provinces in Indonesia participated in various events. These include fast chess, standard chess, and elite chess for the blind, quadriplegic, speech-impaired, and deaf classes.
