SpaceX's Crucial Claims About The Future Of The Superfast That StarLink Brings

JAKARTA - The space company SpaceX is known to have conducted limited trials for the internet provided by StarLink. SpaceX says these initial tests have yielded promising results.

Proclaimed The Verge, Friday, September 4, SpaceX senior certification engineer, Kate Tice said that StarLink has super low latency results and download speeds of more than 100Mbps.

"That means our latency is low enough to play the fastest online video games. And our download speeds are fast enough to stream several HD movies at once and still have bandwidth left," said Tice.

StarLink aims to send tens of thousands of broadband satellites into orbit, blanketing the earth with affordable high-speed internet. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hopes StarLink will provide rural and remote areas with adequate internet access. Currently the company has launched more than 700 satellites.

Tice also added that SpaceX has recently completed a test of two orbiting satellites, equipped with an inter-satellite link, which is commonly known as a space laser. These two satellites can send data directly to each other, instead of bouncing the data down to earth for other satellites to receive.

"With this space laser, the StarLink satellites can transfer hundreds of gigabytes of data. Once the space laser is fully utilized, StarLink will be one of the fastest options available to transfer data around the world," explained Tice.

Since these trials are going well, StarLink is planning to launch a more public testing program later this year. The company has started contacting people who signed up to participate in this pilot program.
