Pushing The Development Of Electric Vehicles, PLN Operates Second SPKLU In East Kalimantan

JAKARTA - As a step to support the Government in encouraging the acceleration of the energy transition in Indonesia, PT PLN (Persero) has added the operation of the Public Electric Charging Station (SPKLU) in East Kalimantan.

General Manager of PLN Main Unit for East and North Kalimantan (UIW Kaltimra), Saleh Siswanto said, the existence of this facility will make it easier for electric vehicle users to recharge their batteries. Not only that, PLN also continues to add to the operation of one SPKLU unit located in the yard of the PLN UP3 Samarinda office, this is the second SPKLU in East Kalimantan.

"This is PLN's active role in providing supporting facilities for electric vehicles in Indonesia. We hope that the increase in SPKLU can accelerate the use of electric vehicles," said Saleh in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, February 1.

Saleh revealed, the existence of SPKLU is expected to increase the convenience of electric vehicle owners in charging, because SPKLU works with a fast charging system, where customers can charge vehicles relatively quickly.

"This year, PLN UIW Kaltimra will continue to add SPKLU points in Tenggarong, Bontang, Berau to North Kalimantan in order to make the electric vehicle ecosystem more massive," he added.

The Head of the ESDM Office for East Kalimantan, Christianus Benny, welcomed the start of the era of electric vehicles in East Kalimantan. Because the increasing number of motorized vehicle users will increase air pollution.

"So it is very important to make the transition from fuel vehicles to electric fuel that is environmentally friendly," said Benny.

Benny also believes that with the increasing number of SPKLUs in East Kalimantan, the electric vehicle ecosystem will increase.
