Indonesian Army Commander To Timika To Mourn 3 Soldiers Who Died In Gome

JAYAPURA - TNI (Indonesian Army) Commander General Andika Perkasa arrived in Timika for a two-day working visit.

Military Resort Commander 173/PVB, Brigadier General Taufan Gestoro, said the TNI Commander was scheduled to mourn three soldiers who died during a shootout with Armed Civilian Groups (KSB) in Gome, Puncak Regency.

As reported by Antara, Thursday, January 27, the bodies of the three soldiers are now in Timika after being evacuated using a Caracal helicopter.

The three bodies of Battalion 408/SBH soldiers who died were Serda Rizal, Prada Baraza, and Pratu Rahman, while Pratu Syaiful was still being treated at the Ilaga Health Center and his condition was stable, explained Brigadier General Taufan who admitted he was still in Biak.

According to reports, the incident began with an attack by KSB on the TNI post in Bukit Tepuk, Jenggernok Village, Gome District, Puncak Regency, Thursday morning that left two soldiers dead.

Gunfire with KSB continued until 10:00 WIT and caused two soldiers to be injured, one of whom died, explained Danrem 173, whose area is in charge of Puncak Regency.

The three bodies are currently still in Timika Hospital.
