Ask DKI Residents To Support Moving Capital City, DPRD Members: Just Thinking Positively, It's Better To Move To East Kalimantan
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth supports the Bill on the State Capital City (IKN) into law and invites the people of Jakarta to support the move of the capital city to East Kalimantan.
According to him, the State Capital Law or the IKN Law binds the government and all parties to move the capital to Panajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. This is mandatory even if there is a change of government in 2024 and beyond.
"Of course we all have to support the movement of the capital city, yes, just 'positive thinking', don't think badly about this policy. I believe it would be good if the capital city moved to East Kalimantan," Kenneth said in his statement, Wednesday, January 26.
The man who is usually called Kent hopes that in preparation for the capital of the archipelago, Jakarta will remain the capital of Indonesia as long as the infrastructure and human resources (HR) in North Panajam Paser are still being prepared.
Kent believes that the economy in Jakarta will continue to grow even if the capital city moves to East Kalimantan.
"I firmly believe that Jakarta will continue to develop as the center of the national, regional and even global economy," he said.
So Jakarta can be used as the center of the economy and business, East Kalimantan only focuses on the government. "I also believe the government will not leave Jakarta just like that, because it has a lot of history," said Kent.
Kent assessed that President Joko Widodo's decision to move the capital city to Panajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, had taken very careful consideration, especially regarding the threat of natural disasters.
In addition, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for the 2020 Population Census recorded that the population of DKI Jakarta in September 2020 was 10.56 million people. When compared with the results of the previous census, the population of DKI Jakarta continues to increase.
This makes DKI Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia, the province with the highest population density in Indonesia.
DKI Jakarta is already very congested and this affects the current high traffic jam. He assessed that the relocation of the capital city is also intended to reduce congestion and reduce economic inequality between regions.
"The issue of moving the capital city has actually been around since the time of President Soekarno, and it was only realized in the era of President Jokowi, this is what we should appreciate," said the member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.
