Police Embrace Religious And Traditional Leaders, Prevent Follow-Up Clashes In Sorong
JAKARTA - The National Police stated that they have embraced religious and traditional leaders to prevent further clashes between two groups of residents that previously occurred at Double O Executive Karaoke & Club Sorong, West Papua. Where, in the clashes 18 people died.
"The regional police directly coordinate with religious leaders, community leaders and traditional leaders to prevent any retaliation or other actions," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo in his statement, Tuesday, January 25.
In fact, the Papuan Police have even held a meeting between representatives of the two groups involved in the clashes. However, the results of the meeting have not been detailed.
"East Sorong Police has held a meeting between groups," said Dedi. Apart from that, Dedi stated that his party had examined several witnesses. In fact, the team also conducted a crime scene (TKP) to collect clues.
"The investigation conducted an examination of witnesses to thoroughly process this incident. Then the ranks also held a crime scene (TKP)," said Dedi.
Then, said Dedi, the West Papua Regional Police are currently conducting a search for the perpetrators and intellectual actors of the clashes.
"Currently an investigation is being carried out to reveal the intellectual actors and perpetrators of the two groups," said Dedi.
