Hopefully Adele Doesn't Have The Intention To Wear A Bikini With A Red And White Flag Motif

JAKARTA - The appearance of Adele wearing a bikini with the motif of the Jamaican flag created controversy. What is the reason?

The singer of the song When We Were Young uploaded a photo of himself wearing a Jamaican patterned bikini on his Instagram account on Monday. He attended the Notting Hill Carnival which was packaged in a virtual format.

The photo was uploaded as a form of Adele's disappointment over the cancellation of the Notting Hill Carnival live event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Usually, during the carnival, the West Indian community in England fill the streets of Kensington, celebrating their ancestry and their culture. This Carnival is also celebrated on various other Caribbean Islands, including Barbados and the Bahamas.

However, his decision to wear the flag of Bob Marley's birth country sparked a reaction from netizens. They were both confused and uncomfortable seeing Adele's appearance.

Although the original purpose of the Notting Hill Carnival was to celebrate Caribbean culture and promote British unity, Adele was not Jamaican. Many consider Adele to have scoffed at this culture.

Warganet thinks that Adele does not understand the culture of black people, which is not just a trend but a culture that is rich in history. Nor is it just a fun costume to wear to your heart's content.

The flag is a symbol of the country. Not only for Jamaica, but for all countries. However, in certain countries - such as the United States for example - it is legal to wear bikinis with their flag motif on them.

What would happen if Adele wore a bikini with an Indonesian flag motif? Get ready to accept more sadistic blasphemies from Indonesian citizens.

The red and white flag symbolizes Indonesia's spirit to escape Dutch colonialism. Attempts to raise the flag during the colonial period were carried out with drops of sweat, tears and even blood.

Of course, there are things that are prohibited from being done about the role of the flag as a symbol of the state. Among them, it is prohibited to cross, write, paint, and destroy.

The prohibition related to the treatment of flags is described in Article 57 of Law Number 24 of 2009 from letters a to d. The following reads:

Everyone is prohibited from: a. scribbling, scribbling, drawing on, or defacing the National Coat of Arms with the intention of tarnishing, insulting, or degrading the honor of the State Symbol; b. use a damaged National Coat of Arms and do not match the shape, color and size ratio; c. make a symbol for individuals, political parties, associations, organizations and / or companies that are the same or resemble the National Coat of Arms; and D. use the State Coat of Arms for purposes other than those regulated in this Law.

Obviously, if Adele wears a bikini with the motif of the Indonesian flag it is tantamount to tarnishing or degrading Indonesia's honor.
