The Sound Of Wood Warms The Music With A Collection Of Short Stories

JAKARTA - Duo Suara Kayu released their second EP or mini album titled Collection of Short Stories on Thursday, January 20. This album contains six folk-pop themed songs with simple but catchy lyrics.

Featuring Ingrid Tamara and Dewangga Elsandra, the EP started with a cheerful collaboration between Suara Kayu and BIANCADIMAS in the song Hahaha.

“At that time, Suara Kayu wanted to make a song about life. 'Not too much thinking and arguing. As the title says 'Hahaha', we make songs while laughing," said Ingrid Tamara.

In their latest work, they use an acoustic guitar a lot with the harmonization of the two members. This aspect can be heard through a series of songs in this EP, namely Cactus, Pencil Eraser, Jasuke, and 24 Hours.

These five songs were released as singles in 2021 where they have been played more than two million times.

The use of a unique title is also a mainstay of Suara Kayu. Cactus song for example. The word cactus here does not refer to the type of plant but stands for Kakak Adik Without Status.

Uniquely, they also presented a track in Korean, Miniature. With an acoustic format, this song will remind us of ginseng country ballad musicians such as OKDAL or Herz Analog.

With this new EP, Suara Kayu wants their listeners to feel entertained and connected. "Instead of getting angry, it's better to #diHaHaHainaja. I hope those of you who are sad and angry, when you listen to this song can be happy with us." said Dewangga.
