Lovebirds Who Are Still Students In Tasikmalaya Become Perpetrators Of Fraudulent Investments Of IDR 5.7 Billion, Become Suspects And Are Detained By The Police

TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya City Police have arrested three people, two of whom are lovers who are students who are perpetrators of fraudulent investment cases whose victims are mostly students with an investment value of Rp. 5.7 billion.

"The two suspects we have detained are lovers who are still studying at a campus in Tasikmalaya," said Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan during a press conference on the disclosure of fraudulent investment cases in Tasikmalaya, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 19.

He mentioned the three suspects, namely two students with the initials LA (22) and RM (22), then another suspect EL (22) who has been carrying out his bogus investment since September 2021.

The suspect EL, said the Police Chief, was not detained because he had just given birth.

"The suspect with the initials EL was not detained because she had just given birth," he said.

He revealed the suspect's modus operandi was by inviting the victim to invest and being promised a monthly profit of 40 percent of the value of the money invested.

The money that was collected by the suspects LA and RM, said the police chief, was handed over to the suspect EL to become a loan fund with a total of Rp. 5.7 billion. The police chief said that the victim in the first month got the profit as promised, but the next month there was nothing so the victim felt harmed.

"The investment value varies from Rp. 1 million to Rp. 60 million per person, the victims are mostly students," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 45 A paragraph 1 of the ITE Law and/or Article 378 and/or Article 372 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55, Article 56, and Article 64 with a penalty of up to four years in prison.
