PSSI Accepts Shin Tae-yong's Request To Change Assistant Coach

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chairman (Ketum) Mochamad Iriawan agreed to the wishes of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, who requested the replacement of two assistant coaches for the Garuda Squad.

Previously, it was known that Shin Tae-yong had ended the collaboration with his two assistant coaches. They are Sahari Gultom and Alex Aldha Yudi.

Sahari Gultom is an assistant goalkeeping coach, while Alex Aldha Yudi is an assistant physical coach. Investigate, the end of this collaboration occurred because the contracts of the two assistants expired in January 2022.

Regarding Shin Tae-yong's request for a new assistant, Iriawan said he would accommodate the coach's will to change the structure of the Red and White Team's coaching staff.

"Which is our assistant coach? That was Shin Tae-yong's request. Later, please just ask Shin the reason. Shin Tae Yong asked to be replaced, so we accommodated. Why let Shin Tae Yong answer," said Iriawan in a written statement received by VOI on Wednesday, January 19.

Furthermore, the chairman of PSSI also said that PSSI would look for the best candidate to fill the vacant position left by Sabari and Alex in the ranks of the Indonesian national team.

"For that (substitute assistant coach), there is. Surely later we will replace it," continued Iriawan.

Despite PSSI's ability at Shin Tae-yong's request, Sahari and Alex Aldha themselves were part of the team that brought the Garuda Squad to the runner-up of the 2021 AFF Cup in Singapore.

Shin Tae-yong's request to find a replacement as soon as possible seems to have to be realized quickly. Because this year, the Indonesian national team is faced with a number of important agendas.

The closest schedule for the Indonesian team is FIFA Match Day which will take place at the end of January, followed by the AFF U-23 Cup, SEA Games, 2022 Asian Games, Asian Cup Qualification, and 2022 AFF Cup.
