More, Omicron Spread In Jakarta Reaches 565 Cases

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that there were dozens of additional cases of COVID-19 variant B.1.1.529 or Omicron in Jakarta as of today.

Today, 67 Omicron cases have been recorded, bringing the total to 565 Omicron cases.

"There are 565 cases that have been exposed to Omicron. Those from outside (the cases of foreign travelers) are 458 cases or 81 percent, those with local transmission are 107 cases or 18.9 percent," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, 13 January.

Riza said the Omicron variant, which has now spread through local transmission, spreads faster than the Delta variant. Therefore, he appealed to residents to continue to adhere to health protocols.

This is because, if COVID-19 cases are found again in an area and end up in a cluster, the government will impose a regional quarantine or micro-lockdown.

Meanwhile, as of today, 487 new COVID-19 cases have been added and 860,089 cases have been accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Jakarta today rose to 184 cases, bringing the total active cases to 2,936 people who are still being treated or undergoing isolation.

Of the total number of positive cases, a total of 852,563 people were declared cured with a cure rate of 98.1 percent, and a total of 13,590 people died with a mortality rate of 1.6 percent, while Indonesia's death rate was 3.4 percent.
