Landslide And Fallen Tree Hit Two Villages In Kudus Due To Heavy Rain Accompanied By Strong Wind
KUDUS - Rain that has occurred since the last two days with moderate to heavy rainfall intensity has caused two villages in Kudus Regency, Central Java, to experience landslides and several trees fell due to strong winds.
"The villages that experienced landslides today, Wednesday, January 12, are in Japan Village and Ternadi Village (Dawe District) after it started raining at 06.00 WIB until 13.45 WIB. The previous day it rained so that several villages were hit by a tornado ", said the Daily Executive Head of the Kudus Regional Disaster Management Agency, Budi Waluyo, in Kudus, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, January 12.
Meanwhile, fallen trees occurred at three points, namely in Peganjaran Village, Bae District, Besito Village, Gebog District, and Sidorekso Village (Kaliwungu District).
The landslide incident in Ternadi Village, he said, occurred behind the house of one of the residents, while in Japan Village, the access road to the local village was blocked by landslide material.
Receiving the report, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) volunteers together with the local community went to the scene to evacuate the landslide material that blocked the access road.
Meanwhile, areas prone to landslides have also been anticipated by providing plastic so that water does not easily seep into the ground.

He reminded Kudus residents who are in areas prone to natural disasters to be vigilant and stay alert, considering that in Kudus Regency there are several villages prone to landslides, such as Rahtawu and Menawan Villages.
"Each village head in Kudus is also asked to actively monitor their area and it is necessary to schedule community service to anticipate unwanted things. For example, cleaning ditches can prevent flooding or scouring water as well as to prevent landslides", he said.
