Under The Command Of Gus Yahya, PBNU Has A Different Way Of Communicating With Political Parties
JAKARTA - General Chairperson of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf guarantees that in the PBNU management for the solemn period of 2022-2027 there will be no preferential treatment for certain political parties (Parpol).
"As we emphasized earlier, we take an equal and equal distance from various angles of political interests around us," said the man who is familiarly called Gus Yahya, Wednesday, January 12.
Within the ranks of the new PBNU, a number of political party cadres were present. Starting from Nusron Wahid (Golkar Party); Khofifah Indar Parawansa (PKB), to Mardani Maming (PDIP Perjuangan)
Nusron served as Deputy Chairperson of PBNU, Khofifah Indar Parawansa as Chair (Tanfidziyah) of PBNU, while Mardani Maming as General Treasurer. According to Yahya, by accommodating various cadres of political parties, it will make PBNU easier to supervise and take care of each other.
He said that if the ranks of the PBNU board were clear of party members, there would be other parties who would try to incorporate their political interests into the PBNU body. In addition, it will make it difficult for PBNU to supervise it.
"If they act and say something that is skewed towards their respective political interests, it can be immediately discovered," he said as monitored from the PBNU YouTube Channel.
Yahya wanted PBNU to have an equal and equal distance with political parties and to remove the stigma that PBNU is an extension of one of the political parties. Because previously, PBNU was often associated with having an intimate relationship with PKB, including in terms of policies.
"We do this by accommodating elements of interest from various political angles in the management. So that we can control so that the distance between PBNU and political parties is equal to one another," he said.
Apart from political party cadres, PBNU also made a breakthrough by including female figures in the management structure. Some of the women who have joined the PBNU management include Nafisah Sahal Mahfudz, Sinta Nuriyah Abdurahman Wahid (Gus Dur's wife), and Mahfudloh Ali Ubaid.
The emergence of the names of female figures has become a milestone for PBNU which has rarely included women's names in strategic positions within the organization.
