North Paser Sharpener Flooded!
JAKARTA - Seven neighborhood associations (RT) in the Karang Jinawi Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser (PPU) Regency, East Kalimantan, was flooded due to heavy rains that flushed the area early Wednesday.
"The flooding in Karang Jinawi Village was caused by heavy rain in the early hours of this morning, or from 03.00 to 05.00 WITA", said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the PPU Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Nurlaila, in Penajam on Wednesday, January 12.
Due to the heavy rain, the river in Karang Jinawi overflowed, so that the rainwater that should have flowed into the river was stopped because the river also overflowed, causing seven RTs to be flooded.
However, continued Nurlaila, flooding in Karang Jinawa and Sepaku sub-district in general, is not a long flood, because within a few hours, the flood which started at 05.00 WITA, this afternoon began to recede.
She also said that previously there had been early warnings from the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) respectively from 18:05 and 01:00 WIT, stating that there would be moderate to heavy rain and strong winds in the Sepaku area from Tuesday to Wednesday, so all parties were asked to be alert to the impact.
Meanwhile, the seven RTs in Karang Jinawi that were flooded were RT 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, and RT 08. The only RT whose area was not flooded was RT 07.
Nurlaila detailed that in RT 01 there were six affected houses with a water level (TMA) between 10-30 cm, RT 02 there were five affected houses with a TMA in the house of 10-50 cm, and in the yard between 70-100 cm.
In RT 03 there is only one affected house with a TMA in the house of 40 cm and in the yard of the house of 100-150 cm, RT 04 there are 2 affected houses with a TMA in the house of 10-20 cm and the yard between 30-50 cm.
"Then in RT 05, there are three houses with a TMA in the house between 15-20 cm and the yard between 40-50 cm. The average TMA condition in the yard is between 50 cm - 1 meter, in the house between 30-40 cm and In general, currently, it tends to go down", she said as quoted by Antara.
She continued, the team in the field that has so far carried out the handling includes the Karang Jinawi Village Head and his apparatus, the local Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas, RT head in their respective areas, volunteers, and residents.
