Moeldoko Believes That Minister Bahlil Has A Reason For Extending The Term Of Office Of The President, But Jokowi Already Has A Clear Attitude
JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia had strong reasons to express the desire of business actors to postpone the 2024 election and extend President Jokowi's term of office.
"Yes, ask him (Bahlil) for sure there are supporting reasons," said Moeldoko at the KSP Jakarta office as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 11.
Bahlil in the event the release of the findings of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey on Monday, January 10, said that business actors in Indonesia wanted the 2024 election to be postponed because the business world situation began to rise again after being slumped by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years.
"Yes, ask Mr. Bahlil, time to ask me?" said Moeldoko when asked about Bahlil's statement.
However, Moeldoko emphasized that President Jokowi's position was to remain in office for two terms, as stipulated in Article 7 of the 1945 Constitution, namely holding office for 5 years and being able to be re-elected once in the same position.
"Mr. President's attitude is clear," said Moeldoko briefly.
Regarding whether Bahlil will be reprimanded for his statement, Moeldoko also does not know.
"Yes, ask Pak Bahlil," said Moeldoko.
In his statement, Bahlil revealed that the steps to advance or delay the implementation of the 2024 General Election are not illegal in the history of Indonesia's journey.
According to Bahlil, this had happened in the Old Order and the transition from the New Order to Reformation.
