Ferdinand Hutahean Arrested, Gerindra: That's Your Mouth Your Tiger

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party Habiburokhman also commented on the detention of Ferdinand Hutahean for the hate speech case related to the tweet "My God is weak". According to him, it was a response to what Ferdinand said.

"That's your mouth, your twitter and your tiger," said Habiburokhman at the DPR Building, Tuesday, January 11.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party suggested that everyone be careful in issuing opinions and statements, especially on social media. The reason is, it will be interpreted differently from everyone who sees or hears it.

"Sometimes we can't write down what we want to convey correctly. This is spontaneous, what has been written is not necessarily interpreted the same way by many people who have witnessed the reading," said Habib.

"Moreover, it's news, you can run anywhere, so be really careful and wise in social media," he continued.

The deputy chairman of the DPR MKD considered that Ferdinand's detention was reasonable. Because, he said, many other cases were also subject to such sanctions.

"There is a principle of equality before the law, as long as the objective and subjective conditions are met, go ahead," Habib said.

Regarding GP Ansor who asked the police to provide Islamic religious guidance to Ferdinand because he claimed to be a convert, Habiburokhman also invited him. However, he said, it was a lesson for others that "original" opinions could stumble into legal cases. "Yes, that's why this is not only the case of Mr. Ferdinand, all cases, I think the approach must be restorative justice, there is already a circular letter at the National Police," he said.

"Restorative justice must be explored first, discuss the problem first, then law enforcement is the last step in imprisonment and detention. Not only the case of Ferdinand but all cases of hate speech," said Habiburokhman.

It is known, the police named Ferdinand Hutahaean as a suspect in the case of the tweet 'Your God is weak'. Ferdinand was then detained by the police.
"An examination was carried out as a suspect for health reasons. But when the arrest warrant was issued, the person concerned signed it," said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Monday, January 10. Ferdinand was detained for the next 20 days at the Central Jakarta branch of the detention center at the National Police Headquarters. The police stated that based on his health condition, Ferdinand deserved to be detained. He was made a suspect because the tweet 'Your God is weak' has the potential to trigger trouble. "While not, so the article 14 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the criminal law regulation, Law 1 of 1946," he said.
