Omicron Case Slowly Emerges, Government Is Busy Mass Swab

JAKARTA - Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) as of Sunday, January 9, 2022, there were 407 cases of COVID-19, the Omicron variant. For this reason, the government will again intensify swab test examinations evenly in the Central Jakarta area.

"We will carry out swab tests on residents in Central Jakarta. We will enforce them according to the regulations of the Ministry of Home Affairs and take care of each other," said Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi when confirmed, Tuesday, January 11.

The increase in swab test examinations for residents had to be carried out because the number of COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta continued to grow. This number has increased after one day earlier, Saturday, January 8, 2022, there were 33 cases in Jakarta.

"Informing the public about the widespread Omicron," he said.

Of the eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta, only two sub-districts, Cempaka Putih and Menteng, have found the Omicron case. Each of these residents is known to have been exposed after undergoing self-quarantine after traveling from abroad.

"Right now, it's only in Menteng and Cempaka Putih because only those two sub-districts have been detected. We'll try after this, we will conduct massive PCR tests," he said.
