Kertajati Airport In West Java Becomes The Flight Center For Umrah And Hajj Pilgrims

JAKARTA - The government has decided to use West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka, West Java as a center for hajj and umrah flights.

"Kertajati Airport will be the embarkation and debarkation place for hajj and umrah," said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi in a written statement, Monday, January 10.

In addition, the airport will also be focused on aircraft maintenance, cargo transportation, tepair, overhaul (MRO). Minister of Transportation Budi invited Kertajati Airport managers to communicate with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Regional Governments, and other relevant agencies to optimize the utilization of aircraft maintenance facilities (MRO). aircraft maintenance abroad.

"West Java's Kertajati Majalengka Airport can be used for maintenance of government aircraft," said the Minister of Transportation.

Previously, the Ministry of Religion had released 419 pilgrims for the first Umrah at Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, East Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1.

The Director General of Umrah and Hajj Implementation at the Ministry of Religion, Hilman Latief, claimed that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation was still under control, allowing the departure of Indonesian Umrah worshippers to Saudi Arabia.
