Heavy Rain Accompanied By Lightning Predicted To Occur In Several Areas Of South Sumatra
PALEMBANG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning regarding the potential for moderate to heavy rain that could be accompanied by lightning in a number of areas in South Sumatra Province on Monday, January 10.
According to the BMKG, in the morning it will rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning in Musi Rawas, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI), Muara Enim, Ogan Ilir, East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) , Banyuasin, Palembang, and Prabumulih.
Meanwhile, OKU, South OKU, Lahat, Pagaralam, Lubuk Linggau, Empat Lawang, and North Musi Rawas areas are forecast to experience light rain in the morning.
In the afternoon to evening, rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning has the potential to occur in OKU, South OKU, East OKU, OKI, Banyuasin, Musi Banyuasin, Palembang, Lahat, Pagar Alam, and Muara Enim.
Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, Lubuk Linggau, and Empat Lawang areas are forecasted to experience light rain in the afternoon to late afternoon.

In the evening, moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning is forecast to lash the areas of Musi Rawas, North Musi Rawas, Lubuk Linggau, Empat Lawang, Lahat, Pagaralam, PALI, Muara Enim, OKU, South OKU, and East OKU.
Light rain is forecast in Banyuasin, Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, Prabumulih and Palembang in the evening.
Head of Meteorological Station Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang Desindra Deddy Kurniawan appealed to South Sumatrans to be aware of extreme weather conditions that may occur during the rainy season such as strong winds and heavy rain.
The peak of the rainy season in the South Sumatra region is predicted to occur from February to March 2022. As reported by Antara.
