COVID-19 Update As Of January 8: 479 Confirmed Cases Increase, DKI Adds 278 People
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 278,688 specimens were examined with the result that there were 479 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,265,666 people and 5,792 active cases," said Ministry of Health data, Saturday, January 8.
Today's recovered cases increased by 175 cases, bringing the total to 4,115,747 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 6 people and a total of 144,127 people. The province with the highest new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 278 cases and a total of 866,909 cases. Followed by the Riau Islands with 57 new cases with a total of 54,617 cases. Banten has 33 new cases and a total of 132,960 cases. Then, East Java with 29 new cases and a total of 400,197 cases.
The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 79 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 17 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 16 recovered cases, and North Sumatra with an additional 10 recovered cases.
In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 65,259,045.
"Positive results per number of people tested or the positivity rate of people this week is 0.21 percent," he wrote.
The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 5,646 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
So far, 169,580,225 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 116,569,908 people have received the second dose of vaccination. While the third dose of vaccination was 1,324,565. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
