Minister Of State Secretary: Deputy Minister Position Is Filled Only When Necessary

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Pratikno explained that the position of deputy minister (wamen) will be filled only when necessary.

"There may be a ministry that under certain circumstances needs a deputy minister, that position exists. But if it's not needed, it doesn't need to be held, it doesn't need to be filled. That's the President's policy regarding deputy ministers," said Pratikno, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 7.

Pratikno said that in several ministries, there was already an institutional position regarding the position of deputy minister. The position is prepared to anticipate rapid changes in the situation, but it does not mean that it must always be filled.

"Deputy ministers do have institutions. Most of the ministries in the Presidential Decree do have a deputy ministerial position. But that doesn't mean it is always filled because it is used to anticipate because the world is changing fast, challenges change quickly, there are often unexpected things. ," he said.

Regarding the positions of a number of vacant deputy ministers in several ministries, the Minister of State Secretary said that until now there is no plan to add any deputy ministers at all.

According to him, the filling of the wamen will still be based on the needs of the ministry.

"As far as I know, there is no plan to add a deputy minister at all. Once again, we'll see the situation. For example, right now the load is heavy on the (Ministry) of Health, and there is already a deputy minister there. So for now, there is no plan, " he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the position of deputy minister of state secretariat, Pratikno replied that there is no plan to add deputy ministers in the ministry he leads.

According to him, currently the State Secretariat is institutionally strong.

"No, we don't have a plan at the Ministry of State Secretariat to have a deputy minister. Our team is already strong, there is a Minister of State Secretary, there is a Cabinet Secretary, and there is a Presidential Staff Office. So no, at the Ministry of State Secretariat there is no such plan at all. ," he said.
