JAKARTA – The Maritime Patrol Unit of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reports that it has succeeded in carrying out 321 intercepts throughout 2021. Of the hundreds of smuggling attempts, it is estimated that the value of the goods reaches more than Rp. 3.56 trillion.
"From this amount, the potential loss to the state that can be saved is IDR 906.5 billion," said the Ministry of Finance's release today, Thursday, January 6.
Then, in the implementation of the JS and JW operations in 2021, Customs and Excise has succeeded in carrying out 16 precautions with several prominent ones. One of them was the prevention of the Tohor Jaya KLM in the waters of Burung Island, Riau, which carried 17 kg of methamphetamine and 1,000 happy five pills.

Then, the prevention of the Oskadon wooden ship loaded with around 200 kg of methamphetamine type narcotics, 200,000 ecstasy pills and 47,500 happy five pills in the waters of East Aceh.
Meanwhile, several results of the prevention also came from operational synergies, including the joint prevention of the National Narcotics Agency against KLM Aisah 25 containing 89 kg of methamphetamine-type narcotics in the waters of Donggala, West Sulawesi.
In addition, the synergy with the National Police resulted in the prevention of SB. Edward Blackbeard was loaded with 107.328 kg of methamphetamine in the waters of Nongsa, Riau Islands.
"The great success of another operational synergy is the joining of the Customs and Excise maritime patrol task force in the Dewa Ruci Operation which was held by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. The Customs and Excise maritime patrol task force played its main role in the disclosure of 1,278 tons of narcotics from the Middle East international network in April 2021," added the agency led by Sri Mulyani.
