TARAKAN - Floods that hit Sembakung District, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan.
"The water discharge in the Sembakung River this morning reached 4.2 meters, this afternoon it is 4.3 meters and will continue to increase", said Sembakung Police Chief, Ipda Isak Panggala, quoted by Antara on Wednesday, January 5.
He estimates that the water upstream of the Lumbis Pansiangan River, which is directly adjacent to Sabah, Malaysia, will increase at night.
For the Sembakung District, the flooded settlements are Lubuk Village, as many as 20 houses were submerged.
"Currently residents are still living in their homes. Water enters the settlements today", said Isak.

The five affected districts include Lumbis Pansiangan, Lumbis Ogong, Lumbis, Sembakung Atulai and Sembakung sub-districts. Water from the upstream of the Lumbis Pansiangan river is known to be geographically directly adjacent to Sabah, Malaysia.
