Hundreds Of Ojol Demo Drivers In The Horse Statue Area, A Number Of Road Sections Moved

JAKARTA - Due to the demonstration by online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) in the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue area, a number of roads in Gambir were closed.

The temporarily closed roads include Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, and the Horse Statue.

"The point is that all directions to the Merdeka Palace are closed," said Head of the Central Region Traffic Unit Kompol Purwanta when contacted by reporters, Wednesday, January 5.

The mass of action is estimated at 450 people. The demonstrators demanded a number of things, including the determination of tariffs by applicators who were deemed to have violated the LLAJ (Traffic and Road Transport) Constitution No. 22 of 2009.

The ojol drivers also criticize the applicator's suspension system without a proof and trial process.

The Director General of Land Transport at the Ministry of Transportation has met with ojol representatives.

In addition to private transportation, the flow of Transjakarta buses was also diverted as a result of the demonstration. A number of Transjakarta buses were diverted to avoid demonstrations.

"Afraid that something might happen, the busway was diverted," he said.

The alternative route due to the road closure is to go to Harmoni and Djuanda from the Kuda Statue directed to Jalan Abdul Muis.

As a result of the demonstration, a number of sections on Jalan Budi Kemuliaan and Jalan MH Thamrin experienced congestion.
