Willix Halim Is Expected To Be The CEO Of Bukalapak To Replace Rachmat Kaimuddin, Who Was Recruited By Luhut To The Coordinating Ministry For Maritime Affairs And Fisheries

JAKARTA – One of the largest e-commerce companies in Indonesia, PT Bukalapak Tbk. announced the nomination of Willix Halim as the company's chief executive officer (CEO) who is currently in a vacant position.

According to the official statement from the issuer coded BUKA, the name Willix Halim was carried by the company's board of commissioners. Besides Willix, company officials also nominated Victor Putra Lesmana, and Howard Nugraha Gani to join the composition of the Board of Directors of PT Bukalapak.com.

"The nomination proposal will be submitted for approval by the Company's Shareholders at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders which will be conducted in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations," Bukalapak said on Wednesday, January 5.

For information, Willix joined Bukalapak as chief operating officer (COO) in 2016 and became one of the important figures in the company's growth to become a Unicorn.

Willix is also considered to have contributed to developing Bukalapak Partners to become the O2O (Online to Offline) market leader, and expanding the variety of digital products and services. This achievement then led Bukalapak to become the first technology company to be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2021.

From an educational background, Willix earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mechatronics with First Class Honors and as a Valedictorian in 2009 from the University of Melbourne.

Just so you know, Willix has a great opportunity to occupy the top executive seat of BUKA replacing the previous CEO, Rachmat Kaimuddin, who was invited by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan to work together on the government line.

Currently, Victor leads various core divisions including marketplace, digital products, logistics & supply chain, payment, financial technology, and new businesses.

Howard started his career with Ericsson Australia as an Engineer. Before returning to Indonesia, he completed his MBA at INSEAD. Then, Howard continued his journey with Bain & Company for more than 3 years, before joining Bukalapak.
