Bali COVID-19 Task Force Finds 11 Hotel Employees In Nusa Dua Who Have Close Contact With Surabaya Residents That Tested Positive For Omicron

DENPASAR - The Bali Province COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) said there were 11 hotel employees who had close contact with two tourists from Surabaya, East Java who were exposed to the Omicron variant of COVID-19 while on vacation to Bali.

Hotel employees are known to have been in close contact after tracing by the Bali Provincial Health Office. They were immediately quarantined.

"From the Head of the Health Office (Head of the Health Service), that today a PCR swab test was carried out on 11 people who were close contacts of the hotel," said Secretary of the Bali Province COVID-19 Task Force I Made Rentin, Monday, January 3.

Initially, it was stated that there were 17 hotel employees, but this was rectified to 11 hotel employees who had close contact with tourists from Surabaya who were later found to be positive for Omicron.

"Correction of the initial data of 17 close contacts, which is correct, is 11 people who are close contacts of hotel employees and have been tested today," he said.

Residents from Surabaya are known to come to Bali by land. He visited a number of tourist attractions in Bali on December 20-25, 2021.

"(Patients) are people from Surabaya, domestic tourists from Surabaya, he (uses the land route) uses a private car from Surabaya. He stays in the Sawangan area, Nusa Dua," said Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, Ketut Suarjaya separately.
