Minister Of Health Budi Gunadi: 34 COVID-19 Patients With The Omicron Variant Declared Cured And Have Returned Home

JAKARTA - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed that currently 23 percent of people or 34 patients who tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 have recovered and can return home. The number of people exposed to this variant virus has reached 152.

"23 percent or 34 people have recovered and have returned home," Budi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, January 3.

Budi explained that some patients who were exposed to the Omicron variant did not experience any symptoms. While the rest, have mild pain but do not need oxygen because the saturation is still above 95 percent.

"So yes, we can see that until now no one has needed serious treatment at the hospital. It is enough that they are given medicine and vitamins and they can return home," said the former Deputy Minister of SOEs.

Furthermore, Budi asked the public to obey the health protocols. In addition, Indonesian citizens who have just arrived from abroad are required to carry out quarantine according to applicable regulations.

The reason is that of the 152 positive COVID-19 patients with the Omicron variant, 146 of them are those who have just returned to the country.

In addition, the public is asked to continue using PeduliLindung when in public places. The use of the application, continued Budi, aims to carry out tracing or tracking if there is a spread of cases in an area.

Moreover, this has been proven when his party tracked the movement of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 patient who some time ago visited a shopping center.

"There is one local transmission from Medan, we know that in five days they went to the mall where quickly in a few days they had walked all six malls. We know which restaurant they visited, we can immediately test it," he concluded.
