SKK Migas Controls 900 Expansion Wells Throughout 2022
JAKARTA – The number of development wells drilling this year has increased significantly compared to the target for drilling development wells last year. Therefore, the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) is committed to overseeing the drilling of 900 development wells this year so that the implementation can run well and there are no obstacles.
"We have drawn up a plan and strategy for Indonesia Oil and Gas 4.0 to achieve the oil production target of 1 million barrels and 12 BSCFD of gas by 2030," said SKK Migas Deputy Operations Julius Wiratno, in a statement quoted by Antara, in Jakarta, Sunday.
Julius explained that the COVID-19 pandemic had forced SKK Migas to make strategic changes and various adjustments.
According to him, the increase in world oil prices over the past year and is expected to persist at high prices this year has raised the optimism of business actors in the upstream oil and gas industry.
"This is their momentum to increase investment in upstream oil and gas, one of which is increasing investment for drilling development wells," said Julius.
Julius also detailed the number of 900 development wells for this year derived from the discussion of work, program & budget (WPnB), additional agreements, and plans to fill the gap program.
The results of the WPnB are 790 development wells, then 10 additional development wells and a potential 100 development wells from the Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (FTG) survey.
"We are committed that 2022 is a turning point for national oil and gas production to increase again in a sustainable manner until 2023," said Julius.
Currently, SKK Migas and contractors (KKKS) have accelerated the target number of 900 drilling wells from the previous 2024 to 2022. This step is also in order to carry over several drilling well targets that have not been realized throughout 2020-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. .
"We are optimistic that the national oil and gas production and lifting targets this year can be achieved. We all hope that this year we can turn over from declining oil and gas production to an increasing trend in a sustainable manner until the target is achieved in 2030," concluded Julius.
