Ancol Lonely Because Of The Pandemic, Losing 61 Percent Of Visitors And 306 Percent Loss

JAKARTA - PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk (PJAA), was forced to temporarily close its business lines due to the COVID-19 pandemic which is spreading so fast in the country. As a result, the company experienced a decrease in visitors of up to 61 percent compared to the same period last year.

Director of Finance for Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, Hari Sundjojo said, after the first positive COVID-19 cases were found in Indonesia, this recreation area was closed from March 14 to June 19. Due to this, of course there was a decrease in visitors.

"If it is related to the decrease in visitors and it does happen if we compare it between 2019 and the realization in June 2020. There are around 7.7 million visitors from January to June 2019, while January to June 2020 only 3 million, a decrease of 61 percent," he said, in a video conference with reporters, Monday, 24 August.

Hari said, the impact of this decrease in number would certainly affect the performance of the first semester of 2020. Development Jaya Ancol's business revenue fell by more than half, or from Rp. 607,899 billion on June 30, 2019 to Rp. 254,215 billion on June 30, 2020.

Hari also said that the company's net profit also fell threefold to 306 percent. In the first semester of this year, Pembangunan Jaya Ancol recorded a loss of IDR146 billion compared to the same period the previous year, which made a profit of IDR71.2 billion.

"Of course, this will have an impact on our performance in the first semester, causing our income to decrease by approximately 58 percent and we have suffered a loss of 306 percent or Rp. 146 billion in June 2019," he explained.

However, Hari said, Pembangunan Jaya Ancol has actually experienced a 10 percent growth in terms of assets, from IDR 4.1 trillion to IDR 4.5 trillion. Likewise with liabilities, which increased 29 percent from Rp1.9 trillion to Rp2.5 trillion. On the other hand, there was a 7 percent decrease in equity from Rp2.1 trillion to Rp2 trillion.

"The cause of the increase in assets is because we really need funds to fulfill bonds maturing in July this year, Rp300 billion," he said.
