6-Year-Old Child Died By Electrocution While Enjoying Water Rides At Sampit Water Park, Police Intervene
KALTENG - A six-year-old girl in Sampit, the capital city of East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, died, allegedly due to electrocution while enjoying water rides at the Sampit Water Park.
"We are checking and gathering information regarding this incident," said Baamang Police Chief, AKP Ratno in Sampit as reported by Antara, Saturday, January 1.
The heartbreaking incident occurred at around 10.00 WIB in early 2022. At that time the poor boy was bathing in the largest water ride in Central Kalimantan. The victim then got up and stood around the pool. While holding an iron pole, the child was electrocuted, allegedly due to a leaking electric cable running through the pole.
The victim's parents shouted for help after seeing the child who was silent. The management acted quickly by turning off the electricity.
The child was immediately rushed to the Baamang II Health Center and referred to Dr Murjani Sampit Hospital. Unfortunately the girl's life was not saved. The child's body was then taken home by the family for burial. Also present at the funeral home, Rambat who is the owner of Sampit Water Park.
He offered his deepest condolences to the family for the tragedy. They are very sad about the incident.
"When it happened I was at the entrance, so I don't know exactly what happened. But the child was immediately taken to get help, but was not saved," said Rambat.
Meanwhile, after the incident, the water rides remained open. The police are currently asking for statements from a number of witnesses regarding the incident. Currently the family is still focusing on the child's funeral.
