Police Arrest 3 Drug-positive Bus Drivers While Carrying Passengers In North Sumatra
MEDAN - Labuhanbatu Resort Police, North Sumatra Police (Sumut) arrested three bus drivers who tested positive for drugs, the third was working to carry passengers.
The three drivers were caught in the Toba Candle Operation which was held by joint officers ahead of the 2022 New Year celebrations.
The Labuhanbatu Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Anhar Rangkuti, said the identities of the three bus drivers who were arrested for positive use of drugs were RMA (22), ZN (30), and AS (23).
"We conducted urine tests on 90 bus drivers, and three people tested positive for methamphetamine," he said, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 30.
He stated that the three bus drivers are now being held at the Labuhanbatu Police Station for further investigation.
"Now we are still examining the three and exploring where they got the illicit goods," said Grand Commissioner Adjutant Anhar.

Apart from checking the bus drivers, Anhar said that the joint officers also checked the vaccination cards of the bus passengers.
"The result is that 89 bus passengers have not been vaccinated and we immediately inject the vaccine at the location with the Sinovac type vaccine," he continued.
Grand Commissioner Adjutant Anhar reminded residents to remain disciplined in implementing the 5M health protocol, namely wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and limiting mobilization and interaction.
"This is to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19," he said.
