Has The Highest Probability Of Omicron Transmission, Does Jakarta Need Lockdown?
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said DKI Jakarta is the city with the highest probability of local transmission of Omicron.
"Local transmission is inevitable and especially in urban cities," said Siti Nadia when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, December 30.
Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health reports that confirmed cases of Omicron in DKI rose from 0 percent to 13.5 percent in the last two weeks. The total cases of Omicron Indonesia currently reach 68 cases.
According to Nadia, all cases were detected at the airport quarantine involving foreign travelers. "This increase is due to the addition of foreign travel agents," she said.
When asked about the need for tightening or locking on population mobility in DKI Jakarta, Nadia said the policy was not yet necessary.

"There is no need for a lockdown, only increasing compliance with health protocols (prokes)," she said.
The process in question is related to the 3M provisions (wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands), participating in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
Regarding tracking cases in Jakarta, Nadia believes that the local Health Office already has sufficient facilities and infrastructure for surveillance activities. "Jakarta has good tracing and testing capacity," she said.
