Old Town Area Closed On New Year, Cafes And Restaurants Can Be Open Until 3 PM
JAKARTA - The Kota Tua tourist area, West Jakarta will be closed on New Year's Eve from 2021 to 2022. The closure is for the prevention and control of COVID-19.
Head of the West Jakarta Creative Economy Tourism Sub-Department, Sherly Yuliana, said the colonial era tourist area will be closed from December 31, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
"Taman Fatahillah Kota Tua will be closed on December 31 and January 1, 2022," said Sherly Yuliana when confirmed by reporters, Wednesday, December 29.
Although closed, Sherly said some museums and all cafes and restaurants in Kota Tua could still operate until the afternoon.
"Museums and restaurants remain open according to regulations. Open from 09.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB," he said.
As is known, this is stated in the Decree of the Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Number 789 of 2021.
The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Endra Zulpan also said that 8,000 Polda Metro Jaya personnel along with joint officers from the TNI and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would go around monitoring all business premises during the New Year's Eve.
They will ensure that the place of business is closed according to the specified operating hours. If a business place is found to be in violation, the government will revoke the business license.
